Adjusting colours changes the accents of the upper and sidebars. The personalised UI lets users adjust the colour preferences and match the setup. And since the browser is made for gamers, customisation is also a part of it. In addition to this, Opera GX includes a dedicated GX Corner that acts as a one-stop for news about games, upcoming releases and even best deals with discounts on certain titles from all over the web. Furthermore, there is a battery saver toggle too in case you want to extend the life to browse more.
There’s also a dedicated button to take a snapshot, edit it on the same window and share it with others. On the top right corner, one can see options to tweak the animations, appearance, features, cache and more. It is worth adding that the Twitch integration in the sidebar on the left side comes in addition to quick access to Opera GX controls (Network and RAM Limiter), History, Extensions and Settings. “Also, the Twitch sidebar integration makes it easier to follow your favorite streamers while the Video pop-out function allows you to play YouTube or other videos on top of your game.” In addition, there is a Twitch streaming service integration as well in addition to quick access to YouTube. One of the features is Network Bandwidth Limited with CPU and RAM Limiters that allows the browser to consume fewer resources, leaving them for running games. There are several features in Opera GX that are made with gamers in mind. This indirectly means that Opera GX will be coming to Windows as well in future. Opera says that it is still working on Opera GX, improving it and introducing more features that work with macOS and Windows operating systems.
The gaming browser is available to download as a part of an ‘early access’ program and will possibly see a wider rollout in the future. The company calls it Opera GX browser and has made it available only for Apple MacBook users. However, in what can be called as the ‘world’s first’, Opera took everyone by surprise on December 12 by introducing a new browser specifically for gamers.
We have seen companies like Google, Apple and Firefox launching different browsers over the years aiming for a different audience.
